2dscanner has a built in precise accelerometer. Spirit Level uses this accelerometer to check the inclination of the device. For horizontal measurements there is no need for precise leveling. 2dscanner will automatically correct the measurement assuming that the walls you scan are vertical. So when you measure a room even if 2dscanner’s inclination is 3° you will get the same result as if it was perfectly leveled. If the green circle is in the red you are ready for a perfect scan. Even if the center of the green circle is in the red boundary still you are ready to scan. There are some scenarios that you need to scan an edge (kitchen worktop edge for example), or an inclined wall. In these scenarios you need perfect leveling.
For vertical scans (window) a proper inclination of 90° is needed. Only the roll variable is essential for vertical alignment. Still this is relative to the inclination of your window. Anyway 2dscanner has to be parallel with the area you want to measure. As you hold vertically the image is changing to show you the exact inclination of 2dscanner helping you level it even in spaces that are difficult to reach.
During leveling 2dscanner enters in spirit level mode shows you in the OLED screen the values of roll and pitch. Once you press Done in the application 2dscanner will automatically exit the spirit level mode. If in any scenario it fails to exit then you won’t be able to continue scanning. In this case just press the touch button on 2dscanner and you are ready to go.
CAUTION. If the inclination of 2dscanner is lower than 10° then the corrected measurements will be delivered to you. If more then the raw measurements will be delivered. Until this point the application does not provide the option to choose which measurement you want since it can handle efficiently most of the cases automatically.
